
Shawna Hinkle
Biography
Shawna K. Hinkle is a Ph.D. Candidate in Music Education at ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø, Secondary Vocal Teacher for Dover City Schools and ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø adjunct faculty in Choral Pedagogy. She is the director of cantique at ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø, the director of Buckeye Girls State Choir and conductor of the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Orchestra Treble Chorus. Hinkle also served as artistic director for the Mount Union Alliance Chorale and director of the ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Tuscarawas Choir. Other positions include Brunswick City and Copley-Fairlawn Schools in general and elementary music, along with collaborative piano and private teaching.
Hinkle holds degrees from Muskingum University (B.M.E.) and ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø (M.M.E.). Conference presentations include those at OMEA, ISME, ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø and elsewhere. Research interests include student learning and self-efficacy in K12 choral rehearsal practices, adolescent singer vocal and emotional development and pre-service music teacher training.
