Climbing Wall
Belay Policy
- The wall is open to anyone, but each climber, regardless of ability, must take the Safety and Skills Test every four months to become an approved belayer. Our staff can belay for you if you purchase a Try Climb. Try Climbs are free on Friday during normal rock wall hours.
- Climbers between the ages of 13 and 17 years old may become approved belayers provided they have a parent or legal guardian attend the Safety and Skills Test and sign off on all waivers.
- Climbers 12 years of age and under may not belay.
- Climbers must fit into a harness to climb the rock wall. Harness fit will be determined by our rock wall staff.
Wall Waiver Policy
- All participants must sign an “Indoor Climbing Wall Acknowledgement of Risk and Release” agreement.
- Participants under the age of 18 must have the form signed by their parent or legal guardian.
- A parent/guardian must be present unless part of a Custom Program.

Weights & Cardio Workout Areas
- Patrons 13 - 15 years of age may use the upper fitness floor, the circuit training area and the cardio area on the lower floor after completing New User Orientation.
- Patrons must be 16 years of age or over to utilize the Weight Room (lower floor free weight area).
- Please follow all safety instructions posted on equipment.
- Follow appropriate weight room safety and etiquette practices, always demonstrating courtesy toward others.
- Personal items and bags should be placed in storage cubbies or in a locker. Please do not place items on the floor for safety reasons.
- No food, including gum, is permitted in exercise and activity areas.
- Drinks are permitted in spill-proof, sealable bottles.
- Closed-toe athletic footwear is required at all times in all exercise areas.
- Please wipe down machines before and after use.
- Patrons are required to re-rack all weights and return equipment to its proper location/starting position after use.
- Weights are not to be leaned against walls, columns, other equipment, or mirrors.
- Equipment should remain in the weight room. Only approved equipment from SRWC staff may be moved.
- The use of clips is always required.
- Slamming or dropping weights is prohibited.
- Above-the-head Olympic lifts are prohibited.
- Improper use of equipment is not permitted. This includes, but is not limited to, standing on equipment, standing on weights, stacking weights under equipment, top-loading equipment and stepping on weights.
- According to the manufacturer’s guidelines and safety considerations, walking or jogging backward on treadmills is strictly prohibited. Please use the equipment as intended to ensure your safety.
- The use of powdered chalk is prohibited. However, liquid chalk is permitted.
- Personal trainers are available through Recreation and Wellness Services. Outside personal training is prohibited.
- Personal speakers are not permitted in group exercise and workout spaces.
- Bringing in outside equipment is prohibited. Patrons are not permitted to bring outside exercise or fitness equipment into the facility.
- Aggressive, unsafe, reckless, and disruptive behavior is explicitly forbidden.
- Immediately report any weight room related injury or facility/ equipment irregularity to staff on duty.
- Recreation and Wellness Services staff shall use discretionary judgment for any concern that is not specifically addressed in our policies.

Circuit Training Area
- Patrons 13 - 15 years of age may use the circuit area after completing New User Orientation.
- The circuit rotates clockwise.
- Follow the voice prompt to begin and end each station.
- Circuit trainers have priority at all times. Non-circuit training is permitted as long as it does not interfere with circuit trainers.
- Please wipe off machines before and after use.

Natatorium
Child Supervision
- Children 12 years and under must be directly supervised by an adult within the Natatorium.
- Youth 13-15 years of age must have an adult present in the SRWC facility without the need for direct supervision.
- Youth 16 – 17 years of age may enter the facility without the need for adult supervision.
Wrist Band Policies
- Children ages 9-15 must pass a water competency test to receive a yellow band to swim in the leisure pool without an adult within arm’s reach. Adults must still supervise children.
- Children 8 years and younger, who do not pass the water competency exam, and/or who do not take the water competency exam, must have an adult within arm’s reach supervising them.
- One adult can only supervise 3 children directly within arm’s reach at a time.
General
- Only U.S. Coast Guard-approved flotation devices are permitted. Floaties, inflatable rings, and other flotation devices are not permitted in place of swimming skills.
- The Leisure Pool will hold a safety break/rest period during the last 15 minutes of every hour.
- During the safety break the Lap Pool is open for those 16 years and up if lanes are available.
- The Lap Pool is designated for lap swimming, aquatic fitness and RecWell programs only.
- Appropriate swimming attire must be worn in the natatorium.
- Street shoes are not permitted on the deck.
- Underwater swimming and breath-holding is not permitted.
- Running, diving, and horseplay in and around the pools will not be permitted.
- Chewing gum and glass containers are not permitted. Food is only permitted in the Wet Classroom.
- Swim diapers are required for children who are not toilet-trained.
- Public display of affection is not permitted.
- To protect the privacy of our patrons, photography and videos are not permitted in the Natatorium.
- Recreation and Wellness Service staff shall use discretionary judgment for any concern that is not specifically addressed in our policies.
Leisure Pool
- The Leisure Pool will hold a safety break/rest period during the last 15 minutes of every hour.
- During safety breaks, the Lap Pool is open for those 16 years and older if lanes are available and they have received a pink wristband. Children ages 15 and younger must remain on the Leisure Pool deck during the safety break.
- Patrons using the vortex must be able to swim in deep water or be with a parent/guardian. The capacity is 6 people. Patrons using the vortex for exercise have priority.
- Pool toys and swim aids may be used in the Leisure Pool at the discretion of the lifeguard
- Large flotation devices are not permitted.
Lap Pool
- The Lap Pool is designed for lap swimming, aqua walking/jogging, and RecWell Programs.
- Lane sharing is required. There can be up to 4 swimmers per lane.
- Kickboards, pull buoys, dumbbells, and wet belts are for exercise use only. The equipment cannot be used as flotation devices. Please return all equipment after use.
