Former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins visits ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø on Thursday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Kent Student Center Ballroom as part of the Wick Poetry Center’s annual U.S. Poet Laureate Reading in celebration of National Poetry Month. The reading is free and open to the public.
Two ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø lighting design students placed first and third place in a national lighting design competition at the 64th Annual Southeastern Theatre Conference in Louisville, Ky.

Join Professor Kristin Stasiowski for an introduction to Primo Levi, an Italian Jewish chemist & author. Professor Stasiowski will discuss Primo Levi’s well-known memoir of survival in Auschwitz, If This is a Man, and lead discussion in response to one of the central ideas of the book: human dignity.
¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø’s College of Public Health recently received the National Science Foundation’s Small Business Innovation Grant while partnering with Sterionics Inc. for work on advancing and commercializing a wound therapy biotechnology product.
The grant totaled $150,000; $50,000 of which went to ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø, the remainder to Sterionics.
For the seventh consecutive year, ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø at Ashtabula’s Justice Club has taken the plunge for charity.
¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø is once again participating in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Great Colleges to Work For program, a study designed to recognize institutions that have built great workplaces. Part of the program involves an employee survey distributed to a sample of each institution's full-time faculty, administrators, professional staff and classified staff. This survey was designed specifically for higher education.
Paula DiVencenzo, tax manager for Tax and Treasury Services at ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø, started volunteering with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) when she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 12.
In observance of Veterans Day, ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø will be closed Nov. 11 and will reopen Nov. 12.

The ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools – the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering – within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the Kent Campus.
The ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Board of Trustees will hold its next regular business meeting at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, in the Timothy D. Eippert Boardroom, Suite 412, at Crawford Hall on the Kent Campus.
Ohio is conducting a statewide tornado drill on Wednesday, March 19, at 9:50 a.m. All ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø campuses will be participating in this test.
¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø will hold its annual Veterans Day observance on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. on the Student Green at Risman Plaza.
The outdoor program, Honoring All Who Serve, will include a flag-raising ceremony conducted by a joint color guard from the university’s Army and Air Force ROTC programs, remarks from ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø President Beverly Warren and guest speakers. Retired Petty Officer 1st Class Mark Gainer, who currently serves as president of the ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Veterans Club, will be the guest speaker.
All are invited to come and pay tribute to America’s veterans. A special invitation is extended to ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø faculty, staff, students and community members who are veterans, active service members or who have family members in the military.
A reception in the Kent Student Center Kiva lobby will follow the brief program. In the event of inclement weather, the rain location will be the Kent Student Center Kiva.
