What was once an old, abandoned woodshed on the Kent Campus from the early 1900s eventually evolved into a controversial and well-known piece of art.
Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.
¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø is introducing a Cooperative Education program for students of all majors at all ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø campuses.
The ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Women’s Center in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will celebrate its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 school year. The Women’s Center, formerly called the Women’s Resource Center, was established in 1996 following a recommendation from a university stakeholder committee to former ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø President Carol A. Cartwright.

The 10th annual Main Street Kent Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown Kent. Proceeds will benefit Main Street Kent, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Kent. The Art and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.

From getting deployed to Afghanistan to being unable to pay for classes, starting a family and even accepting a job at a winery in southern Germany. The reasons for leaving ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø before completing a bachelor’s degree fall across a wide spectrum for some students.

Since 2008, Jill Lahrmer, assistant professor in ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹Ù꿉۪s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, has consistently shared her passion for interior design with her students.

¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø held its 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28 in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. The commemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹Ù꿉۪s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.
