On Saturday, Sept. 21, the ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø fight song blared down Main Street, the city of Kent was flooded with blue and gold, alumni and friends gathered and reminisced about their ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø days, fans packed the stadium to cheer on their beloved Golden Flashes and the entire campus boomed with ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø pride.

¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹Ù꿉۪s New President Todd Diacon to Serve as 2019 Homecoming Grand Marshal
Last year, ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø celebrated 100 years of Homecoming. This year, the university starts the next century of ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Homecoming celebrations with a new president leading the institution.

New Students Move Into Residence Halls With Help From Movers and Groovers
More than 1,000 volunteers from the ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø community welcomed and assisted new students as they moved into their residence halls on freshman move-in day, Sunday, Aug. 18. The annual community program, known as Movers and Groovers, is coordinated by Kent Interhall Council, the student government of the Kent Campus residence halls.

¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Celebrates Summer 2019 Commencement
The ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø alumni network again grew its ranks this summer as more than a thousand Golden Flashes got their degrees. ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø will held its Summer 2019 Commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation (MAC) Center.

¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø Prepares LeBron James Family Foundation I PROMISE Students for College Entrance Exams
¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø hosted several dozen high school students from the LeBron James Family Foundation's I PROMISE program for a month of intensive college entrance exam preparation.

New Director Named for ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹Ù꿉۪s Advanced Materials and Liquid Crystal Institute
Torsten Hegmann, Ph.D., was named the new director of ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹Ù꿉۪s Advanced Materials and Liquid Crystal Institute, effective July 1, having been selected for his research accomplishments, entrepreneurial spirit and passion for social impact.

Kenzie Alge, a ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø certified flight instructor and 2019 graduate, and Alex Johnson, a ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø junior flight technology student, make up the ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø team competing in the 2019 Air Race Classic that starts June 18 in Jackson, Tennessee.

A national organization has recognized ¾ÅÓÎÓéÀÖ¹ÙÍø with a perfect overall score for the university’s efforts to create a more inclusive campus and welcoming environment for all.
